Not a chatbot

One page. Two hands.

There is no prompt box and no send button. You write naturally on the page. When you pause, your words soak into the paper and the reply writes itself back, stroke by stroke.

The ink settles, and I am here.

A shelf of haunted books

Choose who answers.

The Keeper listens with warm, wry patience. Lucian writes in oxblood restraint. Wisp is gentle and quiet. Briar tells the truth with thorns. Or bind a spirit of your own and give a new book its voice.

A diary with memory

Your Tuesday, remembered.

Tell the book about a worry, a person, or a small victory. When you return, it remembers the thread. Turn back through earlier pages and old writing materializes again in both hands.

Private by design

Your words stay in your book.

Your diary entries are written and stored on your iPad. The Cloudflare proxy processes a page only long enough to receive the book’s reply and stores no copy of what you write.

  • 01On your iPadYour saved pages live on the device in your hands.
  • 02No Dearest accountThere is no profile of your diary life sitting on our servers.
  • 03A stateless proxyThe server forwards a request and keeps no diary content.

Questions, answered plainly.

What is an AI journal that writes back?
It is a diary where the reply is part of journaling. You write an entry by hand, and a companion answers on the same page in handwritten ink, remembers what you shared, and can return to it later.
Does Dearest work with Apple Pencil?
Yes. Dearest is designed for iPad and Apple Pencil, and finger writing works too. The core writing surface uses native iPad ink for a direct pen-to-page feel.
Is my diary private?
Your saved diary pages stay on your iPad. The proxy that connects the book to its language model is stateless and stores no copy of your entry.
Can I use Dearest on iPhone or Android?
Not yet. Dearest is intentionally made for iPad because the open-book format and full handwriting surface are central to the experience.
How much does Dearest cost?
Dearest is free to download and begin. Monthly and annual subscriptions unlock unlimited writing and every book; the current local price and any trial eligibility are shown before purchase.
